Women and Change: The Mobilization of Women in the Third World

Elsa Chaney decided to study women in politics in Latin America in 1965 when there still was some doubt that the distinctive political behavior of women was a valid datum for research. She received her PhD at the University of Wisconsin in 1970, and taught Latin American politics at Fordham University.
