This panel will focus on the human dimension of immigration, specifically the impact of immigration policy on human rights and the effect of immigration on our local communities. Panelists include Loreto Prieto, director of Iowa State's Latino/a Studies Program; Ryan Gildersleeve, an assistant professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Iowa State; immigration attorney Ferzana Hashmi; and Lieutenant Mike Brennan of the Ames Police Department. Moderated by Hillari Hoerschelman from the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights. The event is part of a series of discussion panels the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights is presenting at Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI.
